Dilip is partnering with universities to accelerate sustainable electrification

I am Dilip Kota Elving, Global Technology Manager of Hitachi Energy's Protection and Control Relays. It is both fun and meaningful because I get to contribute to sustainable electrification with solutions essential to flexible and secure energy systems. Fascinating because it's such a global job – I have colleagues around the world who all strive towards the same goal. And in my office in Västerås, Sweden there are people from almost every continent, which contributes to new perspectives, more innovation and well-being.

Collaborations in education, research and innovation

In addition to my regular job, I have for the past year project led the collaboration between Hitachi Energy and Mälardalen University. Last spring, we signed a strategic partnership agreement in research, skills development and talent supply. Cooperation with schools and universities is important; it gives us the opportunity to share valuable skills and accelerate the pace of innovation. Right now, for example, we have a couple of joint research projects on how artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can help us with electrification.

Attracting young talents is crucial for our company’s future, which is why the talent supply is a significant part of our partnership. Personally, I find it incredibly inspiring with students who come here with such energy and innovation.

Working with a university is a real win-win. When cutting-edge research at Mälardalen University is combined with Hitachi Energy's enormous knowledge of electrification and power systems, we add value, both for them and for us, and in the long term – for the whole world.

I am proud to work at Hitachi Energy because we are contributing to a sustainable electrification of society. It is one of the most important things we need to do for humanity.

Together with our customers, we work hard to achieve a carbon-neutral world as quickly as possible, and Hitachi Energy has extremely many solutions that help make the world more sustainable.
