A Primer on Energy Transition to Net Zero – the Opportunity and challenges
The utility industry value chain is undergoing a major transformation. Driven by regulatory, policy, business, technology and the consumer/prosumer, change is being wrought in all aspects of the value chain. This course will be a primer on the Energy Transition to Net Zero and discuss the applications for United States around key aspects like the edge/ IoT, analytics, DER/ renewables and the prosumer.
Anant Venkateswaran
Regional Leader
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Location: W207B
Cybersecurity of the Electric Power Distribution System
This course describes cybersecurity terms and definitions as well as the risks cyber vulnerabilities pose to electric power distribution systems. The course also reviews available industry technical standards, best practices, and guides. Cybersecurity implementation examples in power systems are also described. The purpose of this course is to provide a greater understanding of the cyber vulnerabilities of electric power distribution systems and present the technical standards and solutions that are available today to help mitigate the risk posed by cyberattacks.
Steven Kunsman
Director Product Management and Applications
day 2
Tuesday 27 February
01:00 p.m. - 01:30 p.m. | Location: W304CD
Outsmarting Outages during Extreme Weather Events in Louisiana
Irrespective of the size or location of a utility, customers expect the highest level of reliability and resiliency amid changing landscape of the distribution system; Dixie Electric Membership Corporation (DEMCO) in Louisiana leveraged the ADMS to improve storm preparation, faster outage restoration and improved stakeholder communication. This presentation will discuss DEMCO’s storm management practices and resiliency experience during recent major storms.
