The opportunity

You will become part of the Bay Level Solutions team within Hitachi Energy’s Grid Automation business. Our global customers operate in many segments, and we provide a comprehensive portfolio of world-class protection and control solutions. As Global Product Manager, you will be responsible for one of our key solution level offerings, driving its development according to market needs and managing its complete lifecycle. The position is based in Västerås, Sweden, and requires regular presence on site to collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and cross functional teams.

Your responsibilities

·Lead global market intelligence, define segmentation, identify market potential related to your assigned solution, and assess competitive positioning.

·Translate customer and market needs into clear product requirements, ensuring technical robustness, interoperability, and alignment with relevant standards used in digital substations.

·Define product plans, technical/price/cost targets, and manage prioritization across R&D and engineering.

·Collaborate closely with R&D, architecture, cybersecurity, and testing teams to guide development, validate concepts, and secure high quality releases that perform reliably under real operational conditions.

·Drive product communication and support implementation of marketing activities.

·Act as the interface between customers, sales, engineering, and other internal functions to ensure smooth lifecycle execution.

·Support sales and factories with application know‑how, positioning, and solution guidance across regions, including early emphasis on U.S. market needs.

Your background

·B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering or equivalent.

·Experience in Product Management or relevant roles within protection, control, digital substations, or software defined/virtualized architectures.

·Solid understanding of power system applications, modern P&C technologies

·Analytical and structured mindset with the ability to handle complex topics and make decisions confidently.

·Strong customer focus and awareness of global and regional market needs.

·Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions and cultures.

·Fluent in spoken and written English and willing to travel occasionally.

·Ability and willingness to work primarily on site in Västerås, Sweden, to ensure effective collaboration with core teams.
