Packaging Design Engineer

The opportunity

How you’ll make an impact
1. You will Independently develop complete packaging solutions according to product structure, weight, appearance, fragility grade and transportation conditions.
2. You will design outer cartons, inner supports, color boxes, buffer structures, corner protectors, wrapping films, moisture-proof, rust-proof and anti-static packaging structures; select matching packaging materials.
3. You will deliver packaging BOMs, engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to guarantee mass production feasibility and operability on production lines.
4. You will launch targeted improvements to resolve recurring packaging issues including breakage, deformation, loose components, dampness, excessive costs, unstable stacking and large storage footprint.
5. You will optimize packaging structures, material specifications, packing and stacking methods to cut costs, reduce weight and volume, and improve handling efficiency without compromising product protection performance.
6. You will conduct comparative tests before and after optimization, verify shipments in mass production, and close projects with formal improvement reports.
7. You will select cartons, EPE foam, sponge, blister trays, cardboard, protective films, desiccants, anti-rust materials and other packaging supplies; coordinate sampling and trial production confirmation with suppliers.
8. You will complete required tests including drop test, compression stacking test and simulated transportation vibration test to ensure compliance with logistics and long-distance shipping standards.
9. You will establish and update the company’s unified packaging standard system, unify specifications for similar products, reduce material varieties and relieve inventory pressure.
10. You will file, update and version-control packaging drawings, process documents and inspection standards.
11. You will analyze root causes for shipping breakage, customer-reported packaging defects and transit damage; propose corrective solutions covering structure, process and materials.
12. You will track implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence of identical packaging quality issues.
13. You will research new packaging materials and lightweight structural solutions to promote packaging cost reduction, material minimization and eco-friendly upgrades.
14. You will support procurement on material quotation comparison, alternative material verification and mass rollout of replacement materials.

15. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

1. College diploma or above, majoring in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, Material Engineering or related fields is preferred.

2. At least 1 year working experience in packaging design and packaging optimization within manufacturing industry; familiar with carton & buffer structure design, moisture/rust prevention and stacking standards for logistics.

3. Proficient in CAD or other drawing software; capable of independently generating packaging structural drawings, BOMs and work instructions.

4. Familiar with standard packaging tests (drop, compression, vibration) and warehousing & transportation conditions.

5. Strong troubleshooting skills, proven track record in packaging structural optimization, cost reduction and defect rectification.

6. Meticulous, execution-oriented; able to independently deliver packaging development for new products and iterative optimization of legacy products.
