Hitachi Energy's Shore-to-Ship Power delivers end-to-end power infrastructure and electrification capabilities required to build sustainable, efficient, and resilient port ecosystems. Covering everything from utility grid connection to the onboard vessel interface, the portfolio includes Static Frequency Converters (SFCs), containerized and engineered shore power systems, high-voltage grid connection, MV/LV distribution networks, and advanced net-zero technologies. Tailored to each port’s unique operational requirements, the solution accelerates decarbonization, improves operational efficiency, and provides a scalable foundation for sustainable port.

Built for the full range of vessels

The solution is designed for ports of all sizes and supports power ratings from 1 to 44 MVA/SFCs. It enables seamless, shore-to-vessel power transfer without disruption to onboard services, helping ports reduce noise and emissions including SOx, NOx, and particulate matter.

The same modular architecture can be adapted to a wide range of vessels, including ferries, container ships, cruise ships, tankers and service vessels. It supports everything from a single cruise ship connection to multiple high-demand vessels simultaneously.

Balancing the energy trilemma

Sustainability

Decarbonizes port operations and supports the integration of renewable energy sources into the port’s power supply.

Security of Supply

Power flow control and grid-forming capabilities enable the system to meet even the most stringent grid code requirements, whether powering one vessel or several at once.

Affordability

Optimizes lifecycle costs with a single SFC scaling across the full 1 to 44 MVA range instead of requiring separate systems as demand grows.

Industry Leader

Hitachi Energy has more than 40 years of experience in high power medium voltage SFCs for various applications, such as rail power supplies, hydro pumped storage power plants or grid interties.

Shore-to-Ship is more than electrification. It is about delivering scalable and adaptable solutions that enable cleaner ports ready for the energy transition.

A beautiful photograph of offshore oil drilling at sunset in Huntington Beach, California. The orange and pink hues of the setting sun highlight the industrial machinery and equipment used in the drilling and extraction of fossil fuels, including crude oil and natural gas. A cargo ship is visible in the background.

This image captures the intersection of the energy industry and the natural beauty of the Pacific Ocean, and speaks to issues of fuel and power generation, energy crises, and environmental concerns surrounding the oil and gas industry.
