Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, India

Delivering power to a modern mass transit system serving the National Capital Region of India

Delhi Metro is a modern urban mass transit system serving Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, and Ghaziabad in the National Capital Region of India. It is the world's thirteenth largest metro system in terms of length. Delhi Metro is India's first modern public transportation system.

Hitachi Energy has been involved in phase I and II of the construction of Delhi Metro as turnkey electrification contractor. Hitachi Energy technology is ensuring that commuter trains in Delhi run reliably and efficiently, and helps to ease traffic congestion by offering a mass transport solution.

The project scope included a number of main supply and traction substations, electrification of overhead lines, provision of auxiliary substations and a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

The SCADA system effectively monitors field equipment and systems, enabling operators to take proactive measures avoiding major repairs or service interruptions, enhancing performance and cutting costs.
