Senior R&D Structural Engineer 80-100% (f/m/d)

As our new Senior R&D Structural Engineer, you will join our Global Multi-Physic Simulation (GLOMUS) network team in the Technology Center of HITACHI-Energy. You will be part of a group of key people with specific expertise in the fields of electrical, structural, acoustic, thermo-mechanic and fluid-dynamics analyses, simulation and testing.

For this role we follow a hybrid work structure where you can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences.

Your responsibilities

  • Finite Element simulation of structures subject to all types of static and dynamic loads (fatigue, shock, short-circuit, seismic, lifting etc.)

  • Develop of new automations for the structural, thermomechanical and acoustic assessment of products

  • Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products and simulate their expected performances

  • Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products

  • Lead product and technology development in the field of Dry, Traction and Oil Distribution Transformer, delivering results on time and on budget at agreed scope and quality

  • Support the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to engineering department by writing design rules, preparing trainings and collaborating with design tolls team

  • Provide technical support to other departments when needed (engineering, product management, marketing, and sales etc.)

Your background

  • PhD / MSc education in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering field

  • Several years of relevant work experience in Mechanical Engineering

  • Advanced knowledge of structures subject to seismic, fatigue, shock and thermal loads

  • Experience in the finite element analysis and in the use of ANSYS Workbench suite

  • Knowledge of the following programming languages: MATLAB, Visual Basic, Python

  • Solid bases in vibrational fatigue and structures dynamic

  • Project management skills with an action and results oriented-mindset, coupled with innovated, out of the box thinking

  • Excellent communication skills in English, a robust team spirit, and willingness to travel
