R&D Electrical Engineer - Traction Transformer Design (f/m/d)

The Traction Transformer Platform Team under GPC DT Engineering is a group present across multiple countries, providing standardized tools and technical alignment for all traction transformer factories. It ensures sustainability, support, and agility by delivering the essential electrical and mechanical design tools needed to strengthen and accelerate the traction transformer business.

Join our diverse global R&D team and help shape a sustainable energy future through innovation. The position is available immediately on a full-time basis and is based at our location in Brilon.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Be the representative of traction design tools in Brilon, Germany, contributing to global projects and organizations

  • Act as a communication channel between engineering teams, Design platform team focused on traction transformers, and the design tool development teams

  • Develop electrical design software for traction transformers, including tasks such as testing, debugging, validation, implementation, and documentation

  • Continuously update or create user manuals and technical standards

  • Quickly integrate into the electrical design tool implementation for traction transformers used worldwide

  • Foster communication by developing software solutions that interact with Design Systems

  • Manage design project tasks, ensuring efficient interaction between electrical and mechanical design tools to improve the design process and tool efficiency

  • Review and prioritize bug reports and change requests with local Hitachi Energy units, in collaboration with the Design System Manager

  • Provide feedback and contribute to global improvement projects with innovative solutions and ideas for design optimization and product development

  • Collaborate on data ingestion techniques and AI applications within existing project frameworks

Your Background:

  • Master degree in Electrical Engineering with an interest in Software Development

  • Knowledge of electrical design; experience in transformer design is a plus

  • Proficient in software development with strong logical thinking skills

  • Familiarity with Matlab, VBA, and SQL is advantageous

  • Team player who is flexible, proactive, result-oriented, and capable of working independently

  • Willingness to travel and collaborate with colleagues in different Hitachi Energy units

  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English, German skills are advantageous
