The opportunity

We are looking for a motivated engineering intern to join the Bipolar Semiconductor Process Engineering team in Lenzburg. The internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of semiconductor manufacturing, quality engineering, and digital transformation.

The primary objective of this assignment is to transform an existing Digital Quality Control (DQC) prototype into a robust production application that can be used daily by operators and engineers on the Bipolar manufacturing line. The solution will become an integral part of the factory's quality management system and support the prevention of defects, process deviations, and customer escapes. The DQC initiative builds on ongoing efforts to digitalize quality checkpoints and process controls within the Bipolar semiconductor fabrication environment.

This is a hands-on assignment with direct exposure to semiconductor manufacturing processes, operator workflows, quality assurance systems, database applications, and continuous improvement activities.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Analyze and enhance the existing Digital Quality Control (DQC) solution to support its transition into daily manufacturing operations

  • Develop user-friendly software features and workflows that improve quality control, usability, and operational efficiency

  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, shift leaders, and quality specialists to gather requirements and implement practical solutions

  • Support the integration of manufacturing process controls and quality checkpoints into digital systems

  • Analyze process and quality data, identify trends, and contribute to data-driven improvement initiatives

  • Create dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support operational and quality-related decision making

  • Participate in testing, validation, deployment, and user training activities to ensure a successful system rollout

  • Contribute to technical documentation, work instructions, and continuous improvement efforts that enhance long-term system reliability and performance

Your background

  • Degree, apprenticeship, relevant training, or practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field

  • Experience with software development using Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar programming languages

  • Familiarity with databases, SQL, and data management concepts.

  • Understanding of data visualization, reporting tools, and analytical methods

  • Knowledge of software testing, debugging, and quality assurance practices

  • Interest in digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0, process automation, and continuous improvement

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on and proactive mindset

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a manufacturing environment
