The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact

1. You will develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems in accordance with company policies, national regulations, and international standards (e.g., ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001) also conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits across all operational areas to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.

2. You will investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence also prepare and deliver HSE training programs to employees at all levels, promoting a strong safety culture and awareness.

3. You will monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, prepare detailed reports, and present findings to management for continuous improvement and ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations, including waste management, emissions control, and hazardous materials handling.

4. You will liaise with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and other stakeholders on HSE matters also evaluate and approve contractor safety plans and ensure their adherence to Hitachi’s HSE standards.

5. You will stay updated on new HSE legislation, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continually enhance company HSE performance and participate in emergency response planning and drills, ensuring the readiness of personnel and equipment.

6. You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

1. You hold a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

2. Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as an HSE Engineer or similar role in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.

3. In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001), Professional certification (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CIH) is highly desirable.

4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify hazards and implement effective control measures also should have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively train and influence personnel at all levels.
6. Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

8. Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Japanese is a plus.
