Grid-eMotion® Fleet is a scalable charging infrastructure solution for large public transport, commercial and industrial fleets. It combines Hitachi Energy’s expertise in power grids with decades of experience in railway electrification. At the heart of the solution is robust AC/DC rectification technology based on principles that have powered tram and railway systems reliably for decades. This proven foundation delivers the resilience, availability, and long-term performance required for mission-critical fleet operations.​

Grid-eMotion® Fleet applies Hitachi Energy's power systems expertise across the complete grid-to-plug architecture. The solution connects to the distribution grid, centrally converts AC power to DC, and efficiently distributes it across the site. This reduces the need for extensive sub-distribution equipment and distributed converters, resulting in a cleaner electrical layout that simplifies cabling and civil works. Power quality, grid compliance, and future scalability are considered across the complete installation from the design phase onward

Grid-eMotion® Fleet is configured around the available site space, grid connection and operational requirements. Its compact charging dispensers reduce the amount of equipment needed at individual parking positions. The grid-to-plug architecture reduces the need for extensive sub-distribution equipment and distributed converters. This creates a cleaner electrical layout that simplifies cabling and civil works when integrating charging infrastructure into an existing site.

Depending on regional and site requirements, key Grid-eMotion® Fleet electrical equipment can be housed in a purpose-built technical room or e-house. Other suitable enclosure options are also available. This limits exposure to weather and local environmental conditions. It also provides a controlled setting for maintenance and supports consistent performance over time.

Grid-eMotion® Fleet uses a modular architecture that can be expanded as fleet size and charging requirements evolve. Future vehicle needs, available grid capacity and site constraints can be considered during the initial design. This helps avoid repeatedly redesigning the complete depot as electrification progresses.
