The opportunity

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Hitachi's advanced industrial equipment and systems at customer sites.

This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring optimal system performance and customer satisfaction.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Perform installation, commissioning, and validation of Hitachi industrial equipment, including but not limited to, manufacturing systems, power generation components, and IT infrastructure.

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and calibrations to ensure system reliability and compliance with performance standards.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, breakdowns, and malfunctions on-site, utilizing schematics, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals.

  • Provide technical support and training to customer personnel on equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.

  • Document all service activities, including detailed reports on installations, repairs, maintenance performed, and parts utilized.

  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sales, and support teams to provide feedback on product performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards while working at customer locations.

  • Manage and maintain accurate inventory of spare parts and tools required for service calls.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and be available for emergency service as required.

Your background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in field service, maintenance, or technical support for complex industrial machinery or systems.

  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, and control systems.

  • Proficiency with various diagnostic tools and test equipment

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Croatian, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and colleagues.

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to customer sites, often on short notice.

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Familiarity with Hitachi products or similar industrial equipment is a plus.
