How you’ll make an impact:

  • You will ensure the portfolio of contracts in the business follows contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with internal standard procedures.

  • You will do tender preparation, negotiations review and comments on commercial and technical tender terms and conditions, analyze prime contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omission and conflict, as work proceed.

  • You will cooperate with legal to draft, negotiate and finalize agreements during the Sales and Project Execution phases. You will support Sales in RR preparation and support in the contractual session working closely with local legal when involved and with the tendering team.

  • You will contract execution and claims (from project kick-off to project closure), identify the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of potential risk. You will ensure timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.), verify that both parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and there are no responsibilities outstanding.

  • You will assess success of the contract and determine if there are any lessons learned for future contracting, document and communicate to all appropriate parties any deficiency found as part of the closeout process.

  • You will develop Contract Management competence with the other functions of the company by conducting pragmatic training periodically. You will provide guidance and leadership on contract management-related matters to cross-department business team members, participate in claim negotiations and provide professional support where required regarding purchasing activities ensuring flow down of customer terms and conditions to the vendors.

Your background

  • You hold degree in law or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant field / Risk Management/ Contract Management/ Legal/ Commercial Role.

  • Extensive experience in Contract Management functions and processes in project execution or legal/commercial department of EPC energy projects or similar industrial plants or manufacturing of complex industrial products. Solid experience in contract negotiation, change management, claim management and contract-related legal issues and the possible effects in the relevant areas of responsibility regarding tendering stage and/or project execution.

  • Experience in working within internationally staffed teams and with international contractual partners. Systematic and structured work style.

  • Flexibility and adaptability according to specific requirements, ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment, result oriented approach, proactivity and open mind.

  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong written and verbal communication skills. Advanced English & Japanese. Ability to negotiate in English.
