Head of Sales & Marketing Europe - Grid Automation

You are responsible for the sales of the Grid Automation portfolio across Europe, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. You build long-term relationships with customers and manage resolutions to their specific needs and issues. Your role involves driving significant increases in sales, profitability, hit rate, market share, and customer satisfaction within Hitachi Energy’s Hub Europe. You define and continuously maintain critical market intelligence from market, customer, and competitor perspectives for all markets, providing valuable feedback to product management. Additionally, you proactively lead the sales teams, both directly and indirectly, focusing on developing markets and customers, defending the existing base, and achieving targeted results.

You can be based anywhere in Europe, but frequent travel within this region is required for this role. You will report to the Grid Automation Managing Director for Europe.

Your responsibilities

  • Exceed team sales attainment targets (demand & supply order & gross margin targets) and execute on strategic growth initiatives
  • Set up, drive, develop and optimize HUB sales organization structure in line with the target business growth
  • Implement and follow up on market plans for all areas in the HUB (Solution Line Sales)
  • Serve as a visible driver of strategic client relationships and actively coach team members to drive sales success and personal growth for team members
  • Work with other global sales leaders & Local Sales Managers to establish best practices for effective coaching, territory and account planning, and sales efficiency
  • Act as a key influencer at the customer´s C+ level to support the sales team and help close and deliver sales quotas

Your background

  • Education: University degree in Engineering or Electrical Trade qualifications.
  • Experience: 15+ years leading sales teams across Europe.
  • Industry Expertise: Electrical and Automation industries, especially in Utilities, Power T&D, Substation Automation, Communication, and Software.
  • Team Leadership: Skilled in leading virtual teams.
  • Sales Success: Proven track record in multi-portfolio solutions and growth strategies.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills, experienced working in a global matrix organisation.
