Overview

The switch is able to provide redundant topologies by the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP / RSTP / MSTP). A connection to PVST+ networks is also possible. Alternatively, the Ethernet Ring Protection Switching protocol (ITU-T G.8032 ERPS) can be used.

VLAN segments, serial data tunneling and SDSL/SHDSL communication according to ETSI TS 101 524 / ITU-T G.991.2 for use with a single copper pair are supported.

The device can be used for converting between the serial telecontrol protocol IEC 60870-5-101 and the TCP-IP-based IEC 60870-5-104, as well as for converting between Modbus-RTU and Modbus-TCP. Ethernet may be distributed within a station through the eight RJ45 ports of the switch.

Depending on the SFP module equipped, the unit is able to span distances by fiber optic cable up to 200 km.
