AI & Digital Systems Architect

The opportunity
We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious AI & Digital Systems Architect to define and govern the architecture required to integrate artificial intelligence into industrial products, engineering workflows, and business processes.

The role connects control systems, edge and cloud platforms, engineering tools, enterprise applications, and governed data foundations to create scalable, secure, reusable, and production-ready AI capabilities. The architect translates business and engineering needs into end-to-end solution blueprints, guides solutions from experimentation to operational deployment, and ensures that model quality, explainability, cybersecurity, human oversight, lifecycle governance, and measurable value are engineered into every AI-enabled capability.

How you’ll make an impact

• Define and govern end-to-end architectures for AI-enabled products, digital solutions, and engineering workflows across OT, edge, cloud, data, and enterprise environments.
• Establish AI architecture standards, reference architectures, reusable design patterns, and best practices for scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Partner with business, product, and engineering stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value AI use cases that create measurable business impact.
• Drive the integration of AI across engineering, operations, service, and digital processes, from concept and proof of concept through industrialization and adoption.
• Architect AI-enabled capabilities for industrial control systems, automation solutions, HMI/SCADA applications, edge devices, and digital products.
• Define data, knowledge, and platform architectures leveraging technologies such as data platforms, lakehouses, vector databases, knowledge graphs, and digital twins.
• Establish MLOps and LLMOps practices covering deployment, monitoring, testing, evaluation, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of AI solutions.
• Ensure AI solutions meet requirements for security, privacy, reliability, explainability, compliance, and responsible AI governance.
• Design scalable integration patterns, APIs, and data flows connecting OT systems, engineering tools, enterprise applications, and cloud services.
• Act as the technical authority for AI and digital systems architecture, mentoring teams and aligning strategy across software, data, cloud, cybersecurity, and business functions.

Your background

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software, systems, data, AI/ML, industrial automation, or other mission-critical digital platforms.
• Strong expertise in enterprise and systems architecture, software lifecycle management, data architectures, AI/ML engineering, and industrial automation.
• Proven track record of defining end-to-end architectures and delivering AI-enabled solutions from concept and prototyping to scalable production environments.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, knowledge graphs, agentic AI, and the integration of AI capabilities into applications, platforms, and industrial products.
• Deep understanding of AI engineering practices including MLOps/LLMOps, model lifecycle management, evaluation frameworks, observability, governance, explainability, and responsible AI.
• Strong background in modern data architectures including data products, pipelines, lakehouse and streaming solutions, time-series data, vector databases, data governance, and lineage.
• Experience with cloud-native and distributed architectures, including microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, containers, orchestration, and hybrid or edge deployments.
• Knowledge of industrial and enterprise environments, including OT/IT integration, SCADA, HMI, PLC/DCS, digital twins, as well as PLM, ERP, simulation, analytics, and workflow platforms.
• Proficiency in Python, modern AI/ML frameworks, and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP; familiarity with TOGAF, ArchiMate, C4, cybersecurity, data protection, regulatory compliance, and engineering tools such as MATLAB/Simulink or PSCAD is considered an advantage.
