SEMIS 2.0 Introduction

Hitachi Energy Ltd has updated the well-known SEMIS thermal simulation platform with significantly extended features.

The capabilities of SEMIS 2.0 are streamlining the process of product evaluation from filtering via parameter comparison to thermal losses and dynamic analysis. The following section contains an introduction and user information to enable an easy start in the efficient product evaluation. See the graphic below.

Product Selector

Filter products based on key parameters to select only the most relevant products. The table view indicates relevant information and allows fast preselection of desired products for later comparison and simulation. Add desired products to the preferred list for further investigations with “+”.

iDatasheet

Direct data comparison is performed within the digital data sheet. Preselected products are swiftly and simultaneously compared on parameter level. Graphical analysis of power loss vectors or transfer function indicate preferred solutions for your application.  Customizable operation point settings make products comparable in more detail with junction temperature, gate and commutation voltage variations.

SEMIS Thermal

The in-depth thermal loss analysis reveals optimal solutions based on customizable parametrization with more than 40 possible topologies. The results are indicated numerically and graphically to identify optimal conditions. Parameter sweeping enables multiple simulations to be analysed in order to further optimize settings. Select from multiple control strategies, gate resistance adjustment, deadtime settings, and fully customizable cooling to generate simulations according to your specific demands. The comprehensive report indicates losses and temperature data for each device in the power circuit, allowing optimization of control settings and product selection for optimal combination of both. Results of multiple simulations are compared graphically to indicate preferred solutions instantly.

SEMIS Dynamic

A device transient switching behavior is simulated to reveal influences on switching losses and timings. Customizable operating point settings enable the optimization of gate unit control and overshoot voltage to improve overall efficiency according to your requirements and product capabilities. The simulation estimates operation point-specific switch loss and timing data for further gate control and voltage overshoot optimizations.
