Environmental and Employee Health & Safety Lead

The opportunity

Responsible for implementing and overseeing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards within the factory to ensure compliance with regulations. Conduct risk assessments, provide training, and manage incident investigations to promote a culture of health, safety and environment. Monitor HSE performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workplace safety and environmental stewardship.
 

How you’ll make an impact

  • Regulatory compliance Ensure full adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and internal policies within the factory environment.
  • Monitor compliance and provide guidance to employees to mitigate risks associated with workplace practices. HSE policies Implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
  • Communicate HSE policies, procedures, and performance metrics to all employees and stakeholders to foster a transparent and accountable organizational culture.
  • Collaborate effectively with various departments to integrate HSE considerations into daily operations and business processes. Work with management to promote best practices and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Environmental management Ensure that all environmental-related activities are monitored, risks assessed and controlled to minimize the factory's ecological footprint (e.g. carbon emissions, energy consumptions, water, waste).
  • Risk assessments Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards within the factory. Develop, implement, and communicate effective control measures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Monitoring and reporting Monitor key HSE performance indicators and metrics, preparing detailed reports for management that highlight trends, incidents, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Audits and inspections Perform or support regular and systematic HSE audits and inspections to assess compliance with regulations and internal standards. Identify areas for improvement and work collaboratively with teams to implement corrective measures.
  • Training and awareness Conduct engaging HSE training programs for all employees, promoting a culture of safety awareness and compliance. Evaluate training effectiveness and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a role model to foster a culture of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) learning and continuous improvement. Promote the development of a learning organization by emphasizing the importance of lessons learned and the sharing of best practices.
  • Emergency preparedness Establish and maintain robust emergency response plans and procedures tailored to potential incidents within the factory. Conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure employee readiness and effective response.
  • Incident management Lead thorough investigations of workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes. Prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions aimed at preventing future occurrences and improving safety protocols.
  • HSE initiatives Champion health, safety, and environmental (HSE) initiatives to enhance workplace safety and drive continuous improvement. Engage employees in HSE programs that reinforce the organization’s commitment to a safe and sustainable work environment.
  • Drive behavioral change through implementing programs and best practices. Continuous improvement Foster a culture of continuous improvement regarding health, safety, and environmental practices. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to drive innovation and enhance safety performance.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • Candidate should hold a Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 18 - 20 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles within the industrial or energy sector.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in a leadership / managerial HSE role.
  • Mature, seasoned professional with a positive and proactive attitude towards safety initiatives.
  • Strong exposure to heavy engineering, industrial manufacturing, or similar large-scale production environments​
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Extensive shop‑floor experience, overseeing processes and ensuring HSE compliance in real time.
  • Mature, seasoned professional with a positive and proactive attitude towards safety initiatives.
  • Strong hands-on experience in environmental management and occupational health & safety.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing effective control measures to mitigate hazards.
  • Excellent communication, behavioral maturity, and resilience in high‑pressure situations.
  • Proven experience interacting and working with global teams.
  • Ability to guide, mentor, and influence teams across functions.
  • Ability to analyze HSE performance data, prepare detailed reports, and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
