R&D Test Engineer – SiC/Si 80–100% (f/m/d)

The opportunity 

Join our Product Evaluation & Qualification team at Hitachi Energy Semiconductors in Lenzburg, where we ensure the highest quality and reliability standards for next-generation semiconductor chips and power modules.
 

Our products play a critical role in enabling renewable energy, eMobility, traction, and industrial applications worldwide. As we continue to expand our testing capabilities, we are looking for a motivated and hands-on Senior R&D Test Engineer to support the development and qualification of innovative Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Silicon (Si) technologies.

In this role, you will work at the interface of R&D, product engineering, and testing, helping bring advanced semiconductor technologies from development to industrialization.
 

How you’ll make an impact
 
  • Contribute to the development and qualification of next-generation Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Silicon (Si) semiconductor devices for power module applications
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across R&D Design, Process Development, and Product Engineering to evaluate the performance and reliability of new technologies
  • Plan, execute, and monitor electrical and reliability tests using advanced test equipment and methodologies
  • Analyze test data, identify trends and root causes, and provide technical recommendations to support product development decisions.
  • Prepare and present test reports, communicating key findings and risks to project stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the testing laboratory, enhancing efficiency, quality, and testing capabilities
  • Enure compliance with safety, environmental, cleanliness, and laboratory operating standards in all testing activities
     
Your background
 
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in the semiconductor, power electronics, or related industry, ideally within electrical testing, validation, or reliability engineering
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor devices, particularly Silicon Carbide (SiC) and/or Silicon (Si) technologies
  • Experience with test systems, measurement equipment, and data analysis methodologies
  • Programming or automation skills are highly desirable, preferably in Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and engineering software tools; CAD knowledge is considered a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a structured and collaborative working style
  • Fluent in English; German is an advantage
