Hitachi Energy has strengthened KiwiRail’s network by improving the stability and resilience of the electricity supply for the metro system. Challenge

Auckland’s rail network is expanding quickly, and the existing power system was reaching its limits. KiwiRail needed a more stable and reliable way to power more frequent train services without causing outages or putting extra pressure on the grid. They were looking for a solution that could increase capacity, improve power quality, while also support future growth of the metro network.
