Internship in Performance Evaluation of Gas Insulated Switchgear 80 - 100% (f/m/d)

The opportunity

Join a collaborative team shaping next-generation SF6-free circuit breakers. You contribute to understanding dielectric performance under real operating conditions. You support experimental testing, data analysis, and electric field simulations. You grow through hands-on lab work and close guidance from experienced colleagues. You help improve tools, workflows, and data-driven engineering practices. The internship duration is 6 - 12 months.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Support preparation, execution, and analysis of high voltage and high power tests

  • Analyze and evaluate measurement data from internal test campaigns

  • Perform data post processing and synthesize results into clear insights

  • Contribute to dielectric and testing evaluation tools and their improvement

  • Collaborate with development teams on dielectric design of circuit breakers

  • Run electric field simulations and support design optimization activities

  • Investigate and propose workflow improvements using Python or simulation tools Document findings and support structured data collection and knowledge sharing

Your background

  • Enrolled in Masterprogram in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong programming skills in Python, Matlab or Excel, knowledge & experience in High-Voltage Engineering, electromagnetic simulations (e.g. Comsol), CAD software (e.g. Creo), NI DIAdem would be an advantage

  • Solid analytical thinking and affinity for experimental work

  • Fluency in spoken and written English Ability to work collaboratively and take responsibility independently

  • Interest in high voltage engineering and physical modeling
