Building the future of energy transmission in Latin America

A new transformer factory strengthening Latin America’s grid, accelerating the energy transition, and generating real opportunities.

Hitachi Energy is building a new transformer factory in Pindamonhangaba, São Paulo. The plant is part of an investment of approximately USD 200 million in Brazil, announced in 2024. Around 80% of this amount will be allocated to the construction of the new unit, which will help double the company’s production capacity in the country.

The facility will integrate more renewables into the grid, meet the growing demand from data centers and artificial intelligence, and strengthen Brazil’s role as a regional energy leader.

Scheduled for completion in 2028, the project will create jobs, drive local development, and accelerate progress toward COP30 and beyond.

Powering progress with impact

New investments in Latin America support large-scale projects in energy transmission, generation, and distribution, for both local and international markets, responding to growing global demand.

Latin America has the potential. We’re helping unlock it

With more than 80% of its electricity coming from renewables, Brazil demonstrates the leadership that inspires all of Latin America in the global energy transition, where large-scale transmission infrastructure is essential to deliver that clean energy to people, industries, and the region’s development.

Signature projects across the region

Our footprint spans the region’s most critical energy corridors:
Rio Madeira HVDC – Brazil

2,375 km long / 7,100 MW capacity

One of the longest and highest-capacity transmission links globally, connecting renewable energy from the Amazon to the southeast of Brazil.
