The opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated Industrial Engineer with a focus on Automation and Robotics to optimize and improve the efficiency of our Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) production lines. This role involves applying industrial engineering principles as well as automation technologies and robotic solutions to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve productivity.

Motivated graduates with a strong focus on automation and robotics are also encouraged to apply.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Analyse current GIS production line layouts, workflows, and operational procedures to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost, and quality, with a focus on automation potential

  • Design and implement optimized production processes, including new methodologies, automation concepts, robotic applications, equipment utilization, and material flow

  • Conduct time and motion studies, process mapping, and value stream analysis to identify bottlenecks and eliminate non-value-added activities.

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for GIS assembly and testing, including automated and robot-assisted processes

  • Collaborate with other industrial engineers, production managers, design engineers, quality and new product implementation team

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects, leveraging digitalization and automation technologies

Your background

  • Master’s degree in Automation Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field

  • Initial professional experience in industrial engineering within a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Initial or proven experience with industrial automation and/or robotics integration (e.g., robotic cells, cobots, automated material handling systems)

  • Strong background in process optimization, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma)

  • Proficiency in process analysis tools (e.g., value stream mapping, time studies, statistical process control)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Familiarity with GIS production processes or similar complex electrical equipment manufacturing is highly desirable

  • Business fluent in English and German
