Job title: R&D Engineer – QA Automation Engineer

The Opportunity:

Join Hitachi Energy’s Enterprise Software R&D Unit as a QA Automation Engineer. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain automated tests, improve software quality, and support reliable product releases using modern tools and practices. This role offers opportunities to solve technical challenges, expand your expertise, and grow in a global R&D environment. You will report to the R&D Team Manager.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • To develop and execute test plans to ensure that all objectives are met.
  • To test software features and systems to determine success in achieving the intended designs and outcomes.
  • To design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright with JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • To implement and monitor test automation scripts to assess functionality, reliability, performance, and quality of the service or product and identify and remedy defects within the production process.
  • To perform API testing and API automation using Postman and Karate Framework.
  • To create and maintain test cases, manual test execution, regression suites, and defect tracking using Jira and Zephyr Scale.
  • Recommend, implement, and monitor preventative and corrective actions to ensure that quality assurance standards are upheld. Compile and analyze statistical data.
  • To ensure that user expectations are met during the testing process and draft quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Investigate customer complaints and product issues.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background:

  • Required bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field with 5 to 8 years’ experience in automation of test scenarios. Experience in quality inspection, auditing, and testing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of QA databases and applications, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands On Experience in Software – Playwright Automation / JavaScript / TypeScript / VS Code / Git / Test Planning / Test Cases / Manual Test Execution / Jira / Zephyr Scale / Postman / Karate Framework / API Automation.
  • Expert Knowledge of programming language JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python. Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the following will be a plus - Selenium / Java / Eclipse / BDD Frameworks / TDD Frameworks / SQL / XML / Json / PostgreSQL / Appium / Mobile Automation / CI/CD Concepts / GitHub Copilot / Excellent Verbal and Writing Skills.
  • Good database skills with knowledge of SQL & Postgres.
