The opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HSE Officer to join our team. In this role, you are responsible for advising the project team on health and safety requirements and standards for site activities, and accountable to the Project Manager.

How you’ll make an impact            

  • Maintaining Project HSE Plan – review and update where required.
  • Maintaining Project Emergency Preparedness Plan.
  • Conducting HSE drills – Fire / Environmental / Rescue.
  • Assisting Project Manager with HSE Meetings.
  • Conducting Life Saving Rules assessment as determined by Project HSE Plan.
  • Conducting routine HSE inspections of the project site.
  • Conducting periodic audit of Hitachi Energy’s HSE Operating System.
  • Reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Reviewing Subcontractor HSE Plans.
  • Investigating all incidents.
  • Implementing corrective actions from
  • Preparing and reporting HSE Statistics – hours / training / incidents.
  • Implementing HSE Operating Systems in the project.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background        

  • A bachelor’s degree /Diploma in Mech/Chemical/Civil/Environmental Engineering/Electrical/Science with additional qualification in HSE.
  • 5+ years’ experience as an HSE Advisor in a high-risk industry, preferably in substation EPC jobs
  • Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC)
  • Experience in a client-facing role is highly regarded
  • Communication, presentation, and training in Development and Delivery Experience.
  • Experience engaging stakeholders from across all disciplines in the HSE Program.
  • Experience implementing programs and policies within ISO 14001 and 45001 Certified Organizations.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and promote a harmonious safety environment.
  • Ability to complete written reports and electronic communications expeditiously and with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism while in the field.
  • Computer proficiency with a strong knowledge of PCs and software applications related to the work, such as MS Office, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.
  • A valid non-probationary Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and act on safety-related issues, conduct root cause incident investigations, and handle both uncomfortable and sensitive situations.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Team player and approachable.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English is required.
