The virtual convention will focus on sustainability, evolving customer needs and the leading role played by technology. Established in 1915, the AMEU is an association of electricity distribution utilities and commercial companies providing goods and services to electricity distribution utilities in Southern Africa.
At this years event the global power and technology leader, Hitachi Energy, will reinforce and showcase its sustainability, electricity and digital technology solutions and services through presentations and the virtual expo.
The presentation will be entitled ‘Digital Distribution Transformers – A Smart and Economic Way to Manage the LV Network’ by Dr. Bhaba Das, Lead Digital Business Developer (Asia, Pacific, Middle East & Africa) at Hitachi Energy to be presented at the 67th Association of Municipal Electricity Utilities (AMEU) Southern Africa virtual convention from 10 to 12 November.
Distribution transformers are a key component of a successful electrical grid. These serve as a major hub for the collection and distribution of power. If the right intelligence is added to a distribution transformer, it provides the utility with a clear view of optimised management of the LV network.

Bhaba P. Das is the Lead Digital Business Developer for Transformers Business Line, HUB (Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa), Hitachi Energy, based in Singapore. He is part of the Application Engineering Team and spearheads the digital transformation efforts of transformers in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region.
