Hitachi Energy, a global technology leader that’s advancing a sustainable energy future for all, and Samsung C&T Corporation Engineering & Construction Group (Samsung C&T), one of the world’s largest engineering and construction companies, announced today that they are expanding their strategic collaboration to identify common objectives and explore joint business opportunities for High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects worldwide with a particular focus in the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Republic of Korea.

This non-exclusive collaboration leverages the growing markets and the global trend toward electrification and power infrastructure expansion. By capitalizing on the rapid increase in the global HVDC market, the two companies are well-positioned to deliver advanced and efficient power solutions that meet the rising demand for clean energy. Hitachi Energy will provide its HVDC technology as part of the collaboration, and Samsung C&T will bring its EPC capabilities. Working together, they are committed to driving the energy transition and supporting sustainable development across these key regions.

“We are delighted to deepen our trusted relationship with one of the world’s leading players in engineering and construction to support customers worldwide to deliver innovative and scalable power grid solutions, combining world-class digital and energy platforms,” said Niklas Persson, Managing Director of Hitachi Energy’s Business Unit Grid Integration. “In today’s global power scene, partnerships, standardization of solutions, and new business models are key to meet the increased pace of change.”

"We expect this strategic collaboration agreement to strengthen the cooperative relationship and maximize the innovation capabilities of the two companies," said Sung-Jun Kim, Executive Vice President of P&G Biz Development Team at Samsung C&T. "We will continue to foster collaboration and growth."

The Hitachi Energy-Samsung C&T agreement builds on their successful experience supplying two HVDC links, transferring 3,200 megawatts (MW) of clean, efficient power from the mainland to ADNOC’s offshore production operations in the UAE.

Their continued commitment to joining forces underlines their promise to deliver customer value successfully, sustainably, and profitably, offering world-class HVDC technology and expertise in project execution and operational excellence.
