Head of Engineering GIS North America

The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy as an Engineering Manager for GIS North America, where you'll lead a dynamic team of engineers in the Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Operating Unit. This role offers the chance to oversee engineering activities, ensuring projects are executed successfully and meet high standards of quality and efficiency. You'll collaborate with various departments, including project management, procurement, and customer service, and coordinate with our main factory in Switzerland to deliver projects on time and within budget. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact in a leading global company. Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Support customer relationships through workshops and training.
  • Oversee engineering aspects of GIS projects, ensuring technical specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Manage both primary and secondary engineering activities for comprehensive project coverage.
  • Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and customer service teams for seamless project execution.
  • Coordinate with the main factory in Switzerland to align engineering activities.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures for accuracy and reliability.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to the engineering team and other departments.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering management, preferably within the GIS or related industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of GIS technology, project management principles, and quality control processes.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
