R&D Technology Manager – Power Quality

The opportunity

With a pioneering technology-leading offering, Hitachi’s Power Quality supports the green energy transition with solutions that bring resilience, stability and increased capacity to the power grid. This allows greater integration of renewables, minimizes environmental impact, and reduces grid disruption risks.

We are expanding our Power Conversion business and looking for a Technology Manager Power Quality to lead global R&D function. This role is key to driving successful project execution and team performance.

How you will make an impact

• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to global R&D teams comprising over 90 professionals across multiple locations.
• Ensure alignment of team objectives with overall business strategy while driving performance and supporting professional development.
• Supervise the execution of R&D projects, ensuring on scope, on time and on budget delivery in compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
• Manage R&D programs both directly and indirectly, fostering effective cross-functional collaboration.
• Lead organizational transformation initiatives and implement innovative working methods across teams.
• Contribute to the development and execution of the Power Quality strategy in alignment with the business and technology managers drive innovation in evolving market and amid technological advancements.
• Work effectively with internal and external suppliers according to the defined Way of Working and ensure win-win relationships.

Your background

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or related fields
• Successful track record managing large, cross-functional R&D teams and aligning R&D with business objectives
• Strong background in product development and lifecycle management
• Expertise in power quality solutions for sectors like utilities, industry, or renewables
• Experience leading organizational transformation and implementing change
• Effective communicator with robust stakeholder management skills
