Business AI Engineer (Global)

The opportunity

Our Grid, Power Quality Solutions and Service business in Hitachi Energy, Grid Integration is accelerating digital transformation and AI adoption across the end-to-end value chain of energy systems implementation: engineering, tendering, quality, supply chain management, operations and service. As a core contributor to the global Digital Virtual Center of Competence, you will strengthen our global ability to build secure, scalable AI adoption that connect business processes with enterprise data and applications across the organization.

How you’ll make an impact

• Ideate and design business driven modular AI agents using enterprise technologies, Microsoft stack, and orchestration frameworks.
• Elevate prompt engineering to the next level with a business first approach.
• Mentor “makers” and domain contributors to uplift technical maturity around AI‑enabled workflows.
• Integrate agentic solutions with ERP/PLM/CRM platforms, M365 Graph, enterprise data, and AI Foundry components.
• Translate business logic into high‑quality technical designs, reusable agent patterns, and integration standards.
• Industrialize AI prototypes into production services together with IT AI, cloud, cyber, and data teams.
• Establish strong operational practices: live monitoring, resilience controls, error‑handling, versioning, and rollback.
• Introduce and enforce engineering best practices for agentic systems (prompting patterns, testing, evaluation, design).
• Ensure alignment with Hitachi Energy’s and business unit responsible AI principles, cybersecurity requirements, and data policies.
   

Your background

• 3+ years of experience in AI or software engineering, solution design, or enterprise system integration.
• Practical hands-on skills with Python/TypeScript or similar scripting languages.
• Experience with APIs, event‑driven architectures, vector databases, and agentic design patterns.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS/GCP acceptable).
• Experience with enterprise AI frameworks such as AI Foundry (Microsoft).
• Systems‑thinking mindset, strong understanding of secure design and data‑integration patterns.
• Energy‑systems or engineering‑domain background is a strong plus.
• Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus. Comfortable working in global virtual teams.
• Proven change management skills and intercultural competence
