Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification.  The India Development Centre is situated in Chennai and Bangalore. IDC collaborates with the R&D and Research centres of Hitachi Energy, which are spread across more than 15 locations throughout 12 countries. In the past 20 years, IDC has secured more than 200 international papers and 150+ patents.

  • Job Description Summary

As our R&D Project Manager you will become one of the key persons in organizing the delivery of power quality solutions to the rest of our organization. In this role you will work directly with cross-functional team members to ensure that our solutions are delivered and executed in alignment with the overall delivery project priorities

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • You will hold the overall responsibilities for the management of assigned R&D project within the power conversion business.
  • Act as key contact for the project. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing and follow up suppliers.
  • Define all project plan deliverables, including scope, financial plans, and schedule.
  • Ensure that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi Energy policies. Effectively monitor and control project progress and efficient resource utilization.
  • Monitor and control project financials according to budget and forecast of R&D work within the Power conversion domain. 
  • Manage administrative tasks related to project management.
  • Stakeholder relations: Acts as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
  • Health, safety, and environment (HSE): Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in project management for R&D in software/control system development, preferably within power conversion, grid integration, or high-power converter control software domains.
  • Possessing a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification, along with relevant project management experience, is considered an additional advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP and Microsoft Project.
  • Highly proactive, organised, and structured working style, with a strong focus on quality, traceability, and delivery commitments.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional and globally distributed teams, coordinating across control engineering, software, hardware, testing and cybersecurity teams.
  • Excellent risk, issue, and change management capability.
  • Excellent ability to resolve issues, lead teams and work constructively with external and internal relations.
  • Confident leadership presence with the ability to guide teams through complex technical challenges and field escalations
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
