Hitachi Energy is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer for the Transformers Business to join 
their team in Maneja, Vadodara, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual. 
Transformers BU team leverages innovative and diverse technology to transform energy, delivering 
social, environmental, and economic value and enabling a sustainable energy future for current and 
future generations. The business’s comprehensive portfolio includes power transformers, traction 
transformers, insulation and components, digital sensors, and transformer services. The Company’s 
transformers have been deployed across power generation, transmission, and distribution to metals 
and mining, oil and gas, commercial and infrastructure projects, and mobility. As the grid becomes more 
complex, the transformers play an increasingly vital role in improving power quality and network

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. He or she 
must be flexible to accommodate business requirements and experience in working with diverse 
groups and cultures. The ability to multitask & delivers within timelines is essential. The candidate will 
have excellent communications skills. 
Mission Statement

 

 

 Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational 
plan for completing an engineering-based project including Preparing designs, project controls 
and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing 
and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc.  
 Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve 
operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the 
resources necessary to complete the project.  
 May include preparing engineering standards, designs, and work specifications; developing 
project schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, 
and external contractors.  
 Responsibilities typically include , understand design requirements and deliver product design 
& engineering in a timely manner according to customer specifications and assigned KPIs 
 Problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex. 
 Ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed. 
 Your Responsibilities: 
Design Task: 
 Understand the customer requirements after project receipt and prepare order bound 
drawings and documents, making designs in line with customer specification.  
 Compile relevant documents for identified project. Identify and address deviations/issues in 
project document in consultation with Manager.  
 Ensure timely delivery of design specifications and generate requirement in the ERP system. 
Understanding Customer Specifications, Preparation & Checking of Layout & Customer 
Drawings (Internal layout, Cleats and leads, Outside General Arrangement / List of Fittings / 
Foundation Details, fabrication drawings etc.) made in discussion with Customer with Design 
Finalization 
 3D Modeling of Transformer with complete fittings and accessories in Pro-E Wildfire 
 Visit to Customers place/Site for Design Approval & Clarifications. 
 Optimizing transformer designs based on tender commitments & technology requirements. 
 Preparation of manufacturing drawings following with cable wiring, gasket hardware list and 
SAP entries within specified time.

 

 

 

 Preparing Manufacturing instructions, standard drawings & specifications. 
 Coordination with Service Cell for Erection, Commissioning & other Site related Problems. 
 Possessing knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes – DIN, ASME for Ferrous 
& Non-Ferrous Material Specification, Welding & Brazing Qualifications, Non-Destructive 
Testing.

Review and Technical Support 
 Participate and lead Design Reviews, joint inspections while guiding other functions such as 
Manufacturing and Quality. . 
 Participate in technical discussions with customer and address customer queries.

 

 

Your Background 
 BE/ME – Electrical/Mechanical 
 2 - 4 years of industry experience 
 Experience in Mechanical design of Power Transformers 
 Should have knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Cre or 
similar. 
 Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
