Laboratory Technician 80 - 100% (f/m/d)

In the accredited development and type testing laboratories of Hitachi Energy (High Voltage Products) in Zürich-Oerlikon, high-voltage devices and systems are tested in the high-voltage and high-current laboratory for their electrical insulation and rated current carrying capacity among other things.

As a Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) in our accredited mechanical and climatic laboratory, you can expect a very interesting working environment, a great team and new and exciting challenges every day. In our laboratory, you will be responsible for assembling test objects, connecting measurement technology or building special solutions according to the instructions of the test engineer. You will organize the transport of test material, support maintenance and repair work in the laboratory as required and take care of the deployment of the trainees under your supervision.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Assembly & Operation: Set up, assemble, and operate test objects and equipment following engineer instructions

  • Inspection & Documentation: Review delivered test objects, complete necessary modifications, and maintain documentation

  • Calibration & Testing: Set up and calibrate measurement chains, and conduct small-scale tests independently

  • Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure operational readiness of general tools and equipment under supervisor guidance

  • Safety & Compliance : Adhere to and enforce laboratory regulations, with a strong focus on safety protocols

  • Training & Supervision: Guide and supervise assigned trainees in their tasks and responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Identify issues, perform troubleshooting, and conduct necessary revisions and repairs

  • Innovation & Development: Assist in developing new test methods, special tools, and applications to enhance processes

Your Background:

  • Completed technical education (mechanical technician, electromechanics or automation technician)

  • 2-3 years of professional experience

  • Excellent German skills; good English skills are an advantage

  • Enthusiasm for technical challenges and flexible working

  • Willingness for occasional work outside regular hours
