Amit Sinha - My Power Grids Story

Meet Our People | Zurich, Switzerland | 08.07.2020 | 2 min read

I am proud to be Power Grids because I learn cutting edge technologies each passing year.

Each day I get to have new learnings on the technology front! It has been more than 15 years since I started working with Power Grids, where I have gained deep knowledge on high voltage engineering products like GIS, PASS, Live Tank Breaker, Dead Tank Breaker, among others.

The best thing about our team culture is the trust that each one gives to its team members. At Power Grids, I have seen an open discussion culture, in all levels, including the management team. Seniors always support and trust the caliber of junior team members.

Another good thing about Power Grids is you get a chance to prove yourself by delivering challenging tasks.

We at GIS production unit – Savli, Vadodara, manufacture Gas Insulated Substations (GIS). This is a compact substation technology that occupies very less space (1/10th) compared to ordinary substations—most preferred where space availability for a substation is an issue (e.g.: Cities). The metal enclosure fully protects the GIS from environmental processes such as salt deposits in coastal regions, industrial vapors and precipitates, sandstorms, humidity, and high temperatures. This technology provides customer reliable and sustainable power supply to customers. The number of outages due to the fault is less compare to Air substation technology.

Hitachi is definitely a reliable brand and one of only a few companies which have a long list of features and technologies in its appliances. I am excited to work together as Hitachi ABB Power Grids, guided by a new strategy.
