The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact

  • You will develop modern technologies and products for dry-type transformers as part of the R&D team and R&D global organization, lead product and process development projects self-driven on time, on budget and on quality and analyze the existing epoxy formulations and provide fundamental knowledge about chemical systems and their use.

  • You will assess production processes and proactively identify gaps and areas of improvement, organize prototyping and testing activities to validate innovative technologies and new products.

  • You will document and transfer your knowledge and findings from R&D to production environment both locally and in other facilities abroad and provide technical support in domain of expertise to other departments when needed (product management, business development, marketing and sales, engineering).

  • You will stay up to date with the latest technology solutions, international standards, market trends and customer requirements relating to dry-type transformers. You will participate in the root cause analysis of epoxy cracks and propose solutions.

  • You will maintain close collaboration with suppliers to ensure raw material quality and perfect fit to the needs of R&D and the factories.

  • You will be aware of HSE aspects and ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

  • You hold minimum Master level education in polymer engineering or similar.

  • More than 2 years of working experience in large organization is considered a plus.

  • Strong background and hands on working experience in epoxy resin and processing, including lab scale up to prototyping, ideally in a factory environment.

  • Deep knowledge about reaction kinetics as well as casting and curing processes of composite materials and filled epoxy systems.

  • Practical knowledge of the full material characterization methods (thermal, mechanical, processing).

  • Solid track record as project leader.

  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office, statistical and simulation tools.

  • Responsible collaborator with structured, proactive, self-driven, and result-oriented work approach.

  • Spirit of innovation, "out of the box" thinking.

  • Fluent in English language on both writing and speaking.
