Withdrawable Switchgear Module COMPASS and COMPASS I 110 - 170 kV

A COMPASS module includes all the high voltage functions of a complete switchgear bay in a single module. It is suited for both indoor and outdoor installations. The module can be transported by ordinary vehicles or in a standard high-cube container.

Each COMPASS can include:
 

• Circuit-breaker
• Disconnectors with their own motor drive^*)
• Earthing switches with their own motor drive^*)
• Current transformers
• Voltage transformers (optional)
• Surge arresters (optional)^*)
• Spring Drive FSA
• Local control cabinet

• Integration of renewable power into the grid
• Railway substations
• Substation extensions or bay replacements

• Longest experience and largest installed base with COMPASS and COMPASS I, 2000 bays in service
• COMPASS can be serviced and inspected easily by lowering a section of the module, which includes circuit-breakers, current transformers and the mobile contacts of the disconnector. The necessary operations are carried out at ground level, so safety and efficiency are ensured^*)
• Delivered fully assembled and tested, energizing within 24 hours, thus allowing a faster commissioning time for the whole substation
• A COMPASS module requires up to 50% less space compared with a conventional air-insulated switchgear bay
