Tendering specialist, Substation Automation (f/m/d)

In the role as substation automation tendering specialist, you will be part of our Grid Automation Europe tendering team within the Hitachi Energy Group. The tendering organization is truly international and located in various locations across Europe. We operate in a dynamic and growing market and are now seeking to strengthen the team with experienced tendering professionals with home base in one of our office locations across the continent.

Your responsibilities

In this role you are responsible for leading tenders from initial request to contract closing and handover to operations. The activities include creating and completing bids/estimations/quotations based on customer’s technical specification and other requirements to achieve both market competitiveness, high quality tenders and profitable business.

Your field of operation will be the substation automation market and you will have the opportunity to handle a variety of tenders in our customer markets. The focus will be either project business or our fast-growing service business and will depend on your interest and experience.

Key activities:

  • Creation of commercially, legally, and technically optimized and high-quality offers, based on the specifications of our customer.
  • Definition of the scope of supply to be offered.
  • Close cooperation with supply chain management to solicit quotations from subcontractors.
  • Cost calculation estimations and determination of the costs, margins, and sales price in cooperation with sales
  • Tender planning and on time tender submittals
  • Technical support to sales during and during early pursuit stages as well as supporting the contract negotiation.
  • Preparation of tender documents and reports for internal risk reviews and tender submission approvals

Your profile:

  • Higher education (e.g., bachelor’s or master’s degree) in electrical engineering or similar.
  • Excellent technical understanding of substation automation, control, and protection solutions.
  • Good knowledge of the grid automation market
  • Previous professional experience and good track record within a similar business area
  • Strong understanding and previous experience of tendering and commercial processes would be an advantage.
  • Language skills: Fluency in the local language of the desired job location plus a good level of English is required.
  • Willingness to travel and attend customer meetings, up to 10%
