American Clean Power Offshore WINDPOWER Conference

This session will cover planning and operational considerations associated with integrating offshore wind in transmission systems. Technical and regulatory barriers associated with offshore wind interconnections will be discussed along with potential solutions / strategies to allow project developers, transmission planners and independent system operators to work together in overcoming these barriers. In particular, technology solutions to deliver power from offshore wind areas to the onshore grid and to facilitate delivery across the grid without impairing transmission reliability and operability will be covered. Insights gained from Hitachi Hitachi Energy's experience with studies of offshore wind interconnections will be presented.
