Field Service Technician/Engineer

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, our purpose is advancing a sustainable energy future for all. We are looking for a dedicated Field Service Technician to join our Service team in the Netherlands (or Belgium). In this hands-on role, you will work on the commissioning, installation, maintenance, and testing of high-voltage and electromechanical equipment, supporting customers in ensuring the reliability and safety of their energy systems.

You will work both independently and as part of a highly skilled team, contributing to the smooth start-up of complex electrical systems and ensuring that all service activities meet Hitachi Energy’s safety and quality standards.

How you’ll make an impact

• Commission, install, test, and maintain high-voltage and electromechanical systems at customer sites.

• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to electrical and mechanical systems.

• Perform troubleshooting and repairs using technical drawings and diagnostic tools.

• Ensure all work complies with Hitachi Energy’s strict safety standards and local regulations.

• Communicate clearly with customers about service work, equipment performance, and safety measures.

• Recommend product upgrades and solutions to improve system reliability and performance.

• Provide basic on-site training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.

• Develop strong relationships with customers to secure satisfaction and repeat business.

Your background

• Technical diploma (MBO or equivalent) in mechatronics, electromechanics, or electrical engineering.

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in field service, maintenance, or commissioning.

• Strong practical skills: able to read electrical diagrams, connect wiring, and assemble mechanical components.

• Demonstrated safety awareness and the courage to stop or refuse unsafe work.

• Good communication skills in Dutch (B1) and English (B2) — willingness to improve Dutch on the job is welcome.

• Valid driver’s license and readiness to travel frequently within Belgium and/or the Netherlands.
