Hitachi Energy receives elite ‘A’ rating from CDP

Features | 17.12.2025 | 2 min read

  • CDP recognizes the entire Group’s efforts toward highly transparent disclosures, selecting Hitachi Ltd. in the A list, in the areas of climate change and water
  • Latest accolade confirms that, beyond leadership and compliance, Hitachi Energy is dedicated to systemic transformation for a sustainable future

It's another significant milestone for Hitachi Energy as it achieves its prestigious first A score from CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) for its climate-related initiatives. The award follows two years of consecutive 'A-' ratings.

Marking a major achievement for the Hitachi Group, for the fifth consecutive year, Hitachi Ltd. has been selected to the A List, the highest score, in the climate change category of CDP, the global gold standard for corporate environmental transparency and disclosure. The company also earned an 'A' score in the water category. This selection recognizes the efforts of the entire Hitachi Group. Additionally, Hitachi High-Tech was selected for the A List in the areas of climate change and water.

The A List confirms that beyond traditional leadership and mere compliance, Hitachi Energy is dedicated to systemic transformation for a sustainable future. True environmental leadership continues to be measured against rigorous standards. CDP revealed in April this year that out of a record 22,700+ companies scored in 2024, only 2 percent, or 515 companies, achieved an ‘A’ score.

CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world's only independent environmental disclosure system for companies, capital markets, cities, states, and regions to manage their environmental impacts.

"An 'A' score in the Climate category is the highest possible from CDP, and it covers our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, plus company-specific carbon-related disclosures and our management of risks and opportunities along the value chain relating to climate change,” says Alicia Argüello, Hitachi Energy Global Head of Sustainability. “The outcome places us on CDP's A List of organizations demonstrating best practice transparency and performance. This is an important external validation for our customers and key external stakeholders. It also shows that we are being transparent in our business practices."

Achieving a CDP ‘A’ score after two consecutive 'A-' ratings signifies Hitachi Energy's consistent progress in environmental performance. This represents a significant milestone in its climate journey, reflecting both its progress as a business and the maturation of its reporting capability.
