As the energy market becomes increasingly complex, the ability to anticipate potential failures is becoming critical. When Hitachi Energy forged a strategic alliance with Generadora Metropolitana (GM), it implemented a comprehensive solution based on its Asset Performance Management (APM) Control Center.

Part of HMAX™ Energy, Hitachi's suite of AI-powered services and solutions, the lifecycle partnership combines centuries of domain expertise, advanced digitally enabled solutions for physical infrastructure, and service excellence designed to protect critical energy infrastructure while enabling operational efficiency.

The APM Control Center acts as a high-level analytical brain designed to maximize the efficiency, safety, and health of critical physical energy infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. The robustness of the solution is backed by an advanced IT infrastructure and an intelligent integration between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT). Thanks to this deployment based on predictive analytics and AI, Hitachi Energy offers remote visibility and reduces field visits, enabling immediate incident response, access to senior exp erts, and lower operating costs – increasing the availability and resilience of the national electrical system.

“The solution mitigates operational risks by anticipating failures, protects revenues by optimizing costs, and ensures a safe, traceable, and compliant operation because it connects real-time visibility with predictive analytics and response protocols,” says Eduardo Montilla, Electrical Engineer at Generadora Metropolitana.

“Our goal is to transform operational and maintenance data into timely, actionable decisions. The moment we detect an operational anomaly in an asset, we activate regular communication protocols with GM, providing the necessary technical recommendations to ensure operational reliability before a failure occurs,” says Fernanda Alves, Hub Manager for Latin America, Business Unit Service at Hitachi Energy.

A fundamental aspect of this collaboration is the constant validation of data to guarantee the accuracy of investments. In this sense, Montilla added that “this level of technical certainty allows GM to perform a much more efficient capital expenditure (CAPEX) planning and a standardization of its internal processes. In cases where we detect anomalies in trends, we perform laboratory chromatographic analyses to verify behavior and compare it with the monitoring system, achieving highly positive results in facilities such as the Santa Lidia monitor.”

Through its HMAX Energy suite, Hitachi Energy enables strategic partners, such as Generadora Metropolitana, to plan, predict, and prevent operational issues before they occur. By combining advanced analytics, AI-driven insights, and deep energy sector expertise, the solution transforms monitoring data into proactive actions that improve asset availability, extend equipment life, and strengthen operational resilience.

As part of Hitachi Energy's broader lifecycle service portfolio, HMAX Energy supports customers in maximizing the value of existing infrastructure while reducing risks and improving efficiency. Built on trusted long-term partnerships, the suite helps organizations navigate the challenges of growing energy demand and aging assets while accelerating the transition toward a more intelligent and sustainable energy future.
