Hitachi Energy's HVDC sales leader receives Women in Energy Award at CIGRE in Paris

Hitachi Energy is proud to celebrate Aimee Intac-Leung, who has been recognized as a recipient of the prestigious Women in Energy Award, an international distinction presented by CIGRE during its Flagship Global Event in Paris, France. Aimee, Vice President, HVDC Regional Sales Manager for Canada, was recognized for her outstanding technical achievements, industry leadership, mentorship, and advocacy in advancing the energy sector.

For more than 20 years, Aimee has contributed to major transmission initiatives that support reliable electricity delivery, grid modernization, and the integration of large-scale new energy resources. Whether working directly in a project or participating in industry committees, Aimee's expertise in high voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, project management, digital transformation, procurement, operations, cybersecurity, and compliance creates a robust and unique blend of technical excellence and strategic leadership that has established her as a trusted voice in the evolving energy landscape.

As Hitachi Energy works alongside utilities and developers to address rising electricity demand, strengthen energy security, and accelerate the energy transition, bringing Aimee on board reinforces its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships and staying closely aligned with the evolving needs of the industry. She will continue to serve as a trusted industry contributor and global ambassador, while representing Hitachi Energy's HVDC business in Canada.

Aimee actively contributes to transforming the energy industry by promoting knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and best practices. She currently serves as a technical reviewer for CIGRE and IEEE. She participates in international working groups focused on DC systems, power electronics, cybersecurity, and digital technologies for the energy sector. Her contributions help shape industry discussions and guidelines on the technologies, standards, and practices that support the expansion and modernization of the electric grid while balancing reliability, sustainability, and community impact.

As a leader in a traditionally male-dominated sector, Aimee is a passionate advocate for increasing women’s representation and success in engineering and energy. She serves as Chair of Women in Energy Canada, Vice Chair of Women in Energy for the U.S. National Committee, and Executive Secretary of the global Women in Energy network, helping to connect and empower professionals across 35 national committees worldwide. Her commitment to developing future talent extends even further through scholarships she personally funds for engineering students. Through these efforts, she fosters mentorship opportunities, supports diversity and inclusion, promotes greater participation of women in engineering, and helps inspire the next generation of energy leaders.
