Engie Recognizes Hitachi Energy for Strategic Role in Decarbonizing the Power System

Press Release | Santiago, Chile | 10.03.2026 | 4 min read

During the 4th edition of the Supplier Day in 2026, the French decarbonization leader highlighted its strategic alliance with Hitachi Energy, emphasizing their mutual support in overcoming the challenges of Chile's energy transition.

At a critical juncture for the national energy matrix, the pace of transition demands robust partnerships. Hitachi Energy was honored by Engie Chile as a pivotal ally. The recognition took place during Engie’s annual strategic partner summit: Supplier Day 2026, held under the theme: "Building Tomorrow, Together from Today”.

To Mauricio Mazuela, General Manager of Hitachi Energy in Chile, this milestone holds significant value beyond institutional recognition, particularly given the complexities of the global energy transition. "This award carries profound meaning. It confirms that we are delivering tangible value through technological solutions that enable a more flexible, digital, and sustainable energy system”, the executive explained.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the partnership's success is rooted in the delivery of reliable equipment and services that accelerate critical projects. "Beyond technology, this is about a workflow built on trust, innovation, and a shared purpose to advance decisively toward a carbon-neutral energy future".

Guillermo Fuentes, Operating Unit Manager for Grid Integration at Hitachi Energy, addressed the technical rigor with which the company meets Engie's high standards. He stressed that both organizations share "an unwavering commitment to safety and quality as fundamental licenses to operate" and that it is through this shared vision that each initiative takes shape.

We succeed in understanding the specific challenges of projects from every dimension. In this manner, we seek to adapt our solutions and systems through high-level planning and control that minimizes risks and optimizes results. Hitachi Energy professionals not only act with technical rigor, but also maintain a close, open, and transparent collaboration with Engie to constantly direct efforts in an agile and dynamic way, adapting to the demanding objectives that the power generator faces in the Chilean market", stated Guillermo Fuentes.

Meanwhile, Diego Pernías, Business Development Manager at Hitachi Energy, viewed the award as a validation of the enduring bond between both firms. "I interpret this award as a confirmation of how we are building our corporate relationship: a partnership based on proximity, trust, and commitment at every level, transcending individual projects or specific contracts", he affirmed.

Looking towards the future

Regarding the road ahead, Diego Pernías noted that challenges will become increasingly complex in terms of integrating renewable energy and digitalizing the grid. "Addressing these hurdles will require not only cutting-edge technology but also a forward-looking collaboration rooted in a deep understanding of mutual goals. Our teams work with empathy, accountability, and integrity to ensure the resilience of the national power grid", he added.

This distinction granted to Hitachi Energy underscores that critical infrastructure and clean energy integration in Chile will continue to advance under a model of close technical cooperation. In this context, agile responses to operational demands will be decisive for the success of ongoing decarbonization initiatives.

As Mauricio Mazuela concluded, this award "reaffirms that we are on the right path: our actions, innovations, and partnerships help to build a more sustainable energy future for people, industries, and communities. Simultaneously, it drives us to keep raising the bar, as the energy transition demands constant commitment and collective effort".
