The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Research and Development Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will take on significant responsibility for the development and delivery of innovative software solutions for Transformer mechanical design engineers. How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead comprehensive requirements analysis with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and complex system constraints, ensuring alignment with industry standards at Hitachi Energy. 
  • Engage proactively with key stakeholders to define project objectives and clarify updates, facilitating effective communication and gathering insights for improved project outcomes.
  • Foster strong relationships with key customers, utilizing their feedback to drive continuous improvement in mechanical design platform.
  • Implement newly developed product in mechanical design platform that ensure high performance and responsiveness, collaborating closely with R&D teams to exceed customer expectations.
  • Conduct in-depth risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies to minimize potential impacts on mechanical design platform project timelines and budgets. 
  • Champion agile methodologies by organizing regular sprints and retrospectives to enhance team collaboration and adapt to changing requirements. 
  • Oversee testing and debugging processes to guarantee software quality, utilizing advanced tools to identify and resolve defects effectively. 
  • Act as a subject matter expert within projects, offering guidance to colleagues. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing by actively distributing insights, best practices, and lessons learned to promote collaboration and continuous innovation within the team.

Your background

  • Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in transformer design engineering with a proven track record of leading transformer design projects. Or minimum of 5 years of experience in software development within the transformer industry or a comparable technical field.
  • Solid knowledge of Creo modelling (Pro/Program, Sheet-Metal, Family table, Interchange, Relation, Skeleton, Assembly,..)
  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, VB, C+ or C++, with extensive experience in leveraging software development frameworks to deliver complex solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies, with a proven track record of effectively leading teams through all phases of development.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the capability to perform comprehensive risk analysis.
  • Ability to bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the design process. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present technical concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to foster an environment of innovation and teamwork among colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel and ability to interact with colleagues in different time zones, as position is Global.
