The opportunity

For our research center in Krakow/Poland we are looking for a Researcher with expertise in the field of experimental software engineering. You will join a dynamic, motivated, and creative team with a broad range of experience and competences. As part of our team, you will combine theory with practice, creating, testing and validating new technologies to enable the energy transition.

How You Will Make an Impact:               

  • Propose, contribute to and lead research projects related to creating, deploying, and assessing new software development methodologies, processes and tools to increase SW development productivity.

  • Through software engineering research, improve software development practices in both product development and research tool development, including development of AI/ML solutions.

  • Select and assess commercial tools or develop custom SW engineering tooling specific for Hitachi Energy needs.

  • Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers in Hitachi Energy Research and Hitachi Energy business units to identify and solve real-world challenges  

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art software development methods and tools.

  • Network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise

  • Collaborate with local and global external partners including universities, startups and vendors

  • Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports

Your background:

  • PhD degree in software engineering or related field.

  • Deep familiarity with modern SW development methodologies.

  • Deep familiarity with several programming languages and paradigms.

  • Experience with different variants of modern SW development lifecycle tooling.  

  • SW engineering research and publication track record and experience with design of experiments and their statistical analysis

  • Some SW development experience, ideally in a product development environment.

  • Experience with formal methods and other advanced SW development practices is beneficial.  

  • Experience with AI and generative AI for SW engineering is beneficial.

  • Experience that demonstrates your team-oriented, innovative, and strategic working styles
