Manufacturing Production Process Engineering Team Leader (Para-Professionals)

The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

We are seeking an experienced Transformer Process Engineering Leader to lead the process engineering function for a new transformer manufacturing plant (Greenfield project). This role is pivotal in translating product design into world-class manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining process requirements to the Design Institute , aligning process standards with Global Product Group (GPG), and building a high-performing local process engineering team from the ground up.

How you’ll make an impact

1. You will define and document the overall process flow, layout, and equipment specifications for the new transformer factory.
2. You will lead the technical interface with the Design Institute (EPCM), reviewing and approving their deliverables to ensure compliance with manufacturing requirements.
3. You will collaborate with the Global Product Group (GPG) to align local process standards, specifications, and best practices with global requirements.
4. You will manage the tendering, technical clarification, and acceptance of process equipment and production lines.
5. You will oversee the installation, commissioning, and qualification (SAT/IQ/OQ) of process equipment.
6. You will act as the primary process liaison between the local plant and GPG.
7. You will ensure that all local process instructions (SOPs) are harmonized with GPG global manufacturing standards.
8. You will drive the localization of global process technologies and facilitate knowledge transfer from GPG to the local team.
9. You will build and lead the local Process Engineering department from scratch, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
10. You will mentor engineers on core transformer manufacturing processes (Core, Winding, Assembly, and Testing).
11. You will establish a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the team.
12. You will work closely with Product Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is embedded in new product designs.
13. You will partner with Quality and EHS departments to ensure all processes meet regulatory and safety standards from day one.

14.You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

1.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.

2. Minimum 10 years of experience in power transformer manufacturing.

3.Proven experience in new plant setup (Greenfield) or major plant expansion (Brownfield) projects.

4.Experience in dealing with Design Institutes and managing engineering deliverables.

5.Experience working with Global Product Groups in a matrix organization.

6. At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.

7.Deep expertise in transformer manufacturing processes: Core cutting/stacking, Coil winding (foil/discrete), Insulation, Vacuum drying, Oil filling, and Assembly.

8.Strong knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards and industry-specific manufacturing practices.

9.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, and process simulation tools.

10. Excellent leadership and team-building capabilities.

11.Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills (internal GPG and external Design Institute).

12. Fluent in English (written and verbal); ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
