Antalya, Türkiye
Antalya Expo Center, Aksu,

COP31 is the moment to turn ambition into implementation. Hitachi Energy is helping advance the Age of Electricity by accelerating the grid infrastructure, electrification and interconnections needed for a secure, sustainable and affordable energy future.

What is COP31?

COP31 is the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), bringing countries together to advance collective climate action.

Building on the foundations of previous COPs, particularly COP30 in Belém, COP31 aims to advance dialogue, strengthen consensus and accelerate implementation, bringing Parties and stakeholders together to contribute to the global climate agenda.

Main priorities of COP31

There is no transition without transmission

The expansion of renewable energy depends on modern, resilient electricity grids that are ready for the challenges of the future. By strengthening transmission infrastructure, we connect clean energy sources to the growing demand for electrification, enabling a more sustainable future.

Our call to action at COP31

Achieving the next era of sustainable energy depends on electricity, and electricity depends on the grid. Delivering it requires a new framework of collaboration and action on planning, investing and deploying network technology at scale and at the pace this moment demands.

We call on policymakers, international organizations and business leaders to prioritize electrification and treat grid infrastructure as critical.

Why is electricity at the heart of the climate equation?

Electrification is an enabler of energy transition, an engine of economic growth, and a catalyst for development and social well-being.
The data behind our positioning for COP31
Energy transition
20% - 35% of the global energy mix will be electricity.
Grid investment needs to more than double by 2030 (IEA).
Economy & growth
Clean energy investment hit $2.3 trillion in 2025, up 8% from 2024 (BNEF), and each €1 invested in the electricity grid saves over €2 in system costs (Europe Connected
Sustainable development
$16 tn in potential global GDP gains by 2030 from universal electricity access (UNDP) 270 million people lifted out of extreme poverty.
Energy security
2,600 GW of new capacity backlogged by grid bottlenecks in the US. Stronger supply chains and backups to secure reliability.

Three asks for the road ahead

Security

Treat the electricity grid as critical national infrastructure. Accelerate investment in grid modernization, digitalization and cybersecurity, and strengthen supply chain resilience.

Sustainability

Recognize grid investment as climate investment. Accelerate permitting and deployment of transmission, HVDC and digital grid technologies to integrate renewables at scale.

Affordability

Create stable, long-term policy frameworks that give certainty for investment. Mobilize blended finance to reduce congestion and unlock lower-cost renewable energy.

Our commitment to COP31 is part of a bigger story: how electricity will reshape the way we live, learn, build, and care for our planet.

The Next 25 is Hitachi Energy's platform on the energy infrastructure behind tomorrow's world.

From women's soccer to artificial intelligence, from the next generation of talent to cleaner industry. The electrification we champion at COP31 is the foundation of these stories.
