Transformers for railway

The fast urbanization, the increasing demand for mobility, and the excess of CO2 emissions are developing fast. It has never been so important to provide efficient and reliable transportation solutions consuming less energy and delivering more uptime at the lowest cost of ownership. Our purpose is to help our customers to meet their mobility demands on rail, land, water, and air, without consuming the earth.

Safer, greener, consuming less.

The future of Transport: towards a carbon-neutral vision

The global demand for transport is growing fast wherein, based on given present trends, passenger and freight transportation activities will be more than double by 2050. This growth carries with it greater energy demand, increased in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and atmospheric pollutants. Rail travel has been well-matched to a world that is becoming more urbanized.

With rail being among the most energy-efficient mode of transport for freight and passengers, the heavy reliance on electricity makes the rail sector the most energy-diverse mode of transport.

Together with Hitachi Energy and anchored by our mission, the purpose of helping our customers meet their mobility demand with green, safe, reliable, and efficient railways with low operating costs. This is how we will achieve a sustainable energy transition - globally.

Our Railway Portfolio

Rail infrastructure transformers, or railway transformers, are used in the rail and metro network systems for many reasons: they reduce the voltage from an HV power network to a suitable level to feed the AC railway catenary conductors at 50 or 60 Hz, they collect the return current from the rails to the return conductor of the rail network system, they are used to feed converter stations to supply power to DC lines or lines at 16.7 or 25 Hz, they are used to feed auxiliary networks (for lighting purposes, for heating the wagons when the train is steady, or for heating or powering some critical railway points), and they can be used as insulation transformers to isolate the AC network from the DC leakage currents caused by DC rails when in close proximity of AC rails.

Booster-transformatorer

Boostertransformatorer från Hitachi Energy används i vs-matare för elektrisk järnväg för att samla upp returströmmen från skenorna och jorden till returledaren. Klicka för att läsa mer.

AC Line Feeder Autotransformers

The task of the autotransformers along the catenary line is to balance the voltages between the catenary and the earth, and the negative phase conductor and the earth, and then distribute the return current evenly between the two phases.

Auxiliary transformers

Auxiliary transformers are used for lighting purposes, heating the train wagons or for producing single-phase auxiliary for the safety systems supply or the substation's own supply.

Isolering av transformatorer

Isoleringstransformatorer är speciella transformatorer som isolerar vs-nätverket från ls-läckströmmar som orsakas av ls-skenor i närheten av vs-skenor. Klicka för att läsa mer.
