The opportunity

Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Architect.  This role is responsible for the technology and architecture within the Enterprise Software Solutions (ESS) product groups in the PGGA business unit. The products include asset and work management, energy portfolio management, and network control solutions. The ESSLead Software Architect will collaborate with other lead architects, and the product level architects within Enterprise Software, to jointly produce the solution/application architectures necessary to fulfil the product roadmaps. This role primarily concentrates on the SCADA segment within the Network Control product portfolio.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Architect server-side and front-end applications for on-premises and cloud deployments.

  • Explore and prototype solutions by applying new and best-fit technologies.

  • Develop and promote technology strategy and common practices within the product groups.

  • Serve as the technical spokesperson representing R&D at the Product Management table.

  • Lead research and innovation pilot projects and provide leadership for the Global Architects and UX staff.

  • Create, update, and manage security threat models to ensure security requirements are met across various products and programs.

  • Analyze current technology stacks (both backend and frontend) used by various programs and products with ES, and identify improvements (replacement, rearchitecture, refactoring).

  • Lead technical teams by providing detailed architecture specifications (4+1 views and Solution Architecture Document (SAD)).

  • Possess strong knowledge and skills in programming languages, databases, web services, and other technologies used for SCADA systems development.

  • Establish near and long-term architectural direction and technology rationalization within the Enterprise Software product group portfolio.

  • Manage the integration of, and transition to, industry-accepted implementation and operational models for portable, scalable deployments on-premises and in the cloud.

  • Leverage relevant technologies such as micro-service architecture and container orchestration.

  • Provide guidance to management on technology topics related to server-side systems, cloud computing, data analytics, mobile technology, integration, and general IT trends.

  • Manage software-related IP strategy and reviews.

Your Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in power system SCADA/EMS/ADMS, IT/OT integration for power systems application for electrical utilities.

  • Knowledge of industry standard communication protocols such as DNP, IEC870.5,

  • TASE.2 and others is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI) model and data transmission and communication.

  • A high level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
