Tender Manager - HVDC Control & Protection (Glasgow)

The opportunity

HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group in Hitachi Energy, which develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables. It is also used to connect power systems.

We are looking for a Tender Manager to lead bids for HVDC Control & Protection systems. This is a role with many interfaces and interesting work tasks, and you will get great opportunities for learning and development working on potential future projects across the globe. You will join as an integral member of a diverse and high paced tender management team at a time when the demand for our solutions is booming and we are expanding in order to help our clients reach their environmental targets.

Location of the posting will be Glasgow in the United Kingdom. Please note we are unable to provide visa support on this position.

How You'll make an impact

  • Deliver the bids for Control & Protection systems to our HVDC installations, ensuring that we follow process, meet tender deadlines and that we deliver with high levels of quality.

  • Plan and communicate the needs of the tender to the HVDC Control and Protection management team.

  • Represent Control & Protection during customer interactions where you drive discussions and negotiations.

  • Monitor progress of tender deliverables and perform continuous follow-up on tender scope and time.

  • Build and maintain a team culture of collaboration, accountability, trust and transparency.

Your background

  • You hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree within the relevant technical area.

  • You have previous experience working with HVDC projects.

  • Experience in design and testing of control system.

  • You have a strong interest or skills within industrial application development and programming.

  • automation, simulation and modelling procedures (real-time or offline) is also seen as an advantage in the role.

  • You are structured, driven and like to continuously improve processes and come with new ideas.  

  • You should thrive in a position where you have the opportunity of creating networks, cherish human relations as well as working independently towards clear deadlines. 

  • Experience in project management and bid management. You are comfortable meeting customers and partaking in technical negotiations to support your team if needed.

  • Knowledge on UK Gridcodes/standards is an advantage
